Outreach and Mission
Here at Mechanicsville UMC we believe that mission matters! In fact, mission matters a lot! When Jesus talked about serving the sick, the hungry and the poor. He referred to them as
“members of His family”. (Matthew 25:40)
We are called to serve others in Jesus’ name and mission outreach is one of the most important ways of serving the world for Jesus.
Here are some of the on-going mission projects that we’re involved in and we’d love
to have you join us!
Hosting Collegiate Challenge though Hanover Habitat for Humanity. College students from the east coast stay in our facilities and help to build houses for those in need in Hanover County
Haiti Medical Mission Team
About HOM We are involved in sending a medical mission team to Haiti each January. Our team is made of Medical Doctors, Physician’s Assistants, Pharmacist, Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses and some dedicated non-medical folks who serve to support the work of the clinic. Our team members come from Virginia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Tennessee. Its a week-clinic and we typically see over 600 patients. If you’d like more information on how you can get involved or support our team, please contact
Pastor Kerry at kerrydboggs@comcast.net

We host a full week of CARITAS here at our church each year. Our fellowship space has been named The Great of Room of God, hoping to capture the image and feel of family room at home.
When we built the Great Room of God we added features like moveable wall systems, a commercial kitchen and men’s and women’s shower and bath facilities to allow to more effectively serve those who need meals, showers and a safe place to stay.

The commitment of RISE Against Hunger is to ‘end hunger in our lifetime’. A very bold and daring vision and one that we’re excited to be a part of as a church family. We raise a minimum of $3,000.00 for each packaging event. A packaging event is an afternoon here at the church when we mix, bag and pack at least 10,000 nutritious meals for shipment around the world to communities in need. Most RISE Against Hunger food is distributed to children in need though local schools. In fact, RISE Against Hunger is served in all the schools supported by Haiti Outreach Ministries.
